Detection of Low RCS Unmanned Air Systems Using K-Band Continuous Wave Doppler Radar

UASs (Unmanned Air Systems) are universally used in many activities, spanning from leisure-commercial to military applications. Accordingly, as the number of operating sky increases, so does need detect and identify them, order ensure their legitimate use. This paper introduces a continuous wave (CW) Doppler radar implementation that can be provide early warning for flying-by small UASs. By applying Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) returned signal’s frequency, estimations made regarding presence aerial bodies inside an Area Interest (AoI). Achieving reliable detection with low false alarm rate (FAR) while keeping size power demands system minimum was challenge successfully met. The proposed extensively tested outdoor environments; measurement results presented parameters such power, antenna gain, noise discussed.
